About Us

Mondo Cattolico is an ancient company of religious articles and mosaics in Rome, founded in 1952 by the Rossetti family. It has always been placed in St. Peter's Square.

The shop boasts a long tradition in the sale of  sacred objects of great artistic value as medals, crosses, icons, silver, cameos, miniatures, rosaries, etc., visited by a vast international clientele that has always renewed us their trust in the purchase of  religious objects suitable for any event. We are specialized in the search and collection of precious ancient and modern mosaics that can be visited and admired in our great interior Mosaic Art Gallery.

In these pictures it is possible to realise the evolution throughout the years of San Peter's area as well as  the previous neighborhood (Borgo, XIV Rione of Rome). The urban development  of the Rione, changed forever in 1936, year in which Mussolini and Pio XI started the plan of demolition of "Spina di Borgo " that was the area where today is placed Via della Conciliazione.

The result was that almost all the buildings placed in the south of the Passetto (section of the Vatican walls that connects the Vatican with Castell Sant' Angelo) were demolished and a new artery, the "Via della Conciliazione", was constructed in its place. The street was named like that thanks to the new climate of collaboration between the state and the Church further  to the signature of the " Lateranense agreements " (The Conciliation) in the year 1929. In the successive years, until 1950, the same works of demolition followed in other parts of the Rione, also the Plaza Rusticucci, which was subtistuted for the current Plaza Pio XII, headquarters of the shop.

We invite you to visit our site, confident  that you will find the desired object or the right souvenir of your stay in Rome. In our online shop you can in fact buy: religious articles, rosaries, crosses, mosaics, paintings, statues, jewelry, souvenirs and other.
